What Solar System Is Right For You?

Here are some important facts you may or may not know regarding roof and ground mounted  solar Installations.

Solar Panels

Roof Mount Systems

If you have a comp shingle roof like shown in this photo, metal standing seam, concrete flat or a concrete S tile roof then a roof top mounted solar system is probably the right choice.

Facts about Roof Top Installations:

Solar, When installed correctly does not harm your roof.

It actually helps protect the underlaying roof and can extend the overall life of the roof and its underlayment.

Solar also helps keep the interior attic space cooler by absorbing the suns heat and energy and reduces excess heat from penetrating into the home.  With concrete tile, using mounting hardware like QuickMount PV tile replacement mounts help avoid the increased cost and labor associated  with a "Picture Framed" solar installation.  "Picture Framing" is the process of removing all of the existing tile under the solar array down to the felt or synthetic underlayment, the installation of comp shingles under the solar panel array and then framing the array back with the tile.  This process is costly, requires additional flashing and water proofing to assure proper solar installation.

Quickmount PV mounts are a patented solid aluminum, double flashing mount that raises the penetration point 7/10th of an inch above the metal flashing.  They are the same shape and size of the existing tiles or shingles and do not require the removal of all of the existing tiles under the solar array.

This greatly reduces costs and shortens installation time and

with over 500,000 mounts installed over the past 10 years with zero roof leaks, This is our tried and true installation method for all comp and concrete tile roofs giving you peace of mind your roof will not be comprised and will remain preserved for years of trouble free operation and most importantly with no leaks.

Ground Mount Systems

Ground Mount systems are perfect when you have available space offering the ability to easily clean the panels to minimize soil factoring while maximizing panel efficiency.

Another ground mount system benefit is it allows for the entire panel array to be configured with the absolute perfect pitch and azimuth in mind resulting in maximum annual KW production.  Ground mount systems tend to generate more energy annually compared to roof mounted system  if designed correctly because they are perfectly placed and less likely to experience shading from trees or neighboring homes.  Ground mounted systems are generally more expensive to construct due to additional materials and labor including concrete, wire, trenching and steel to construct the structure itself.

Ground Mounted systems are also a great option if you have a 2 or 3 stack custom clay tile roof that would require almost the same added cost to properly picture frame a roof top installation.
